Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah virtually released India’s First “District Good Governance Index” in Jammu on Saturday. The District Good Governance Index of Jammu and Kashmir was prepared by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, DARPG in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir government. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha were present on this occasion. The Index provides a roadmap for similar benchmarking of Governance at District level for all States and Union Territories of India. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shah said that Good Governance Index of districts will benefit the people of the whole country. He said this index will ensure a healthy competition between the districts.The Home Minister said that over the decades only three families had ruled Jammu and Kashmir but they did nothing for the people of J&K. While highlighting the key initiatives of the present rule, Mr Shah appealed to the Youth of J&K not to get misled by the rumours floated by vested interests .Reiterating that statehood will be restored to J&K, Mr shah said that once the delimitation commission submits its final report to the Government, elections will be then held in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha said that a two year vision document should be made in respect of every district so that better results can be achieved. He said that while making developmental schemes, a person standing in the last row should be kept in mind. Mr Sinha said that after 2019 many hurdles in the way of good governance have been removed.
-Amidst Covid 19 surge, West Bengal Government will celebrate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 125th birth anniversary while abiding by Covid protocols. The main function will be held beneath the Netaji statue at Maidan at around 12 noon on Sunday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will offer floral tribute there. Siren will be played. Earlier it had been decided that a colourful rally would be brought out. But that has been canceled due to sharp rise of Covid 19. On the occasion a tram with description of Netaji’s role in struggle for freedom will keep standing at Shyambazar five point crossing. Madan Mitra, Chairman, State Transport Corporation inaugurated the tram on Saturday. The tram will be at Shyambazar till upcoming Wednesday and after that it will be kept at Dharmatala from Thursday to 31st of this month. No fee for the visitors.
-The Kerala High Court on Saturday allowed the Crime Branch to interrogate actor Dileep and five others for three days from Sunday for hatching a conspiracy to finish off investigating officers, who probed the 2017 actress sexual assault case. Justice P Gopinath in an interim order directed the accused to appear before the police from 9 am to 8 pm for interrogation.The High Court, in a special sitting, was considering the anticipatory bail application moved by actor Dileep and the other accused. The Court restrained the police from arresting Dileep and others till the 27th of this month, when the case is slated to come up for hearing again.
-BJP has kick-started its election campaign in the Western Uttar Pradesh where the polling will be held in the first phase on 10th February and the second phase on 14th February. Senior party leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday conducted a door-to-door campaign in Kairana assembly constituency in Shamli district. He also distributed pamphlets to the people. Talking to the media, the Union Minister said that the law and order situation has improved in the state under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. He said that UP has also implemented the Union government’s schemes in true spirit. Later, Mr. Shah also held a meeting with the party workers of Shamli and Baghpat districts. He also interacted with the eminent citizens in Meerut. In Bijnor, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda held a meeting with the party office bearers of 15 assembly constituencies of Bijnor, Nagina and Muzaffarnagar. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath conducted a door-to-door campaign in Bulandshahr. He also interacted with the eminent citizens of the city. In another event in Lucknow, the party leader and Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath flagged off the party’s 403 LED campaign vans. These vans will carry the party’s message to all 403 constituencies in the state.
-The Indian Army has said that 2021 has been a watershed year for the armed forces on Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir and Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. Addressing the northern command investiture ceremony at Udhampur on Saturday, General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief, northern command, Lt Gen Y K Joshi said, the army personnel displayed boldness in standing up to the aggressive designs in the two Union Territories. He said, there has been a decline in terrorist related incidents, stone pelting activities and protests in Jammu and Kashmir due to tireless efforts of the government forces and the people of J&K. During the ceremony, appreciation certificates were provided to various units for their overall distinguished performance in the command theatre.
