IAF conducts 88-hour ‘Operation Sindoor Commemorative Run’ in New Delhi

The Indian Air Force (IAF) organised an 88-hour-long ‘Operation Sindoor Commemorative Run’ in the national capital from May 7 to May 10, 2026 to mark the first anniversary of the successful 88-hour air operations carried out by the force. The commemorative event saw participation from around 600 runners, including personnel from various commands of the Indian Air Force, the Indian Army, and civilian volunteers. The run was flagged off at 1:05 a.m. on May 7 from India Gate by the Air Officer in Charge Administration (AOA) and concluded on May 10 at 5 p.m. at Air Force Station New Delhi, where Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) presided over the flag-in ceremony.
Organised in a continuous relay format over 88 hours, the run passed through several prominent landmarks in Delhi, including India Gate, Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Air Headquarters Vayu Bhawan, Nehru Park and New Moti Bagh Road before concluding at Air Force Station New Delhi. Civil authorities played a key role in facilitating the event, while civilian volunteers also participated enthusiastically alongside defence personnel.  According to the IAF, the aim of the commemorative run was to foster esprit de corps among Air Force personnel and enhance public outreach and visibility of the Indian armed forces. The event also featured a live performance by the Indian Air Force Jazz Band at Nehru Park on May 10 as part of the associated activities.
