While India did not have a major contender this year after director Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound failed to make the final shortlist in the Best International Feature Film category, the country still had a presence at the ceremony.Actor-producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas attended the event as one of the presenters, representing India on the global stage. Meanwhile, Indian-American filmmaker Geeta Gandbhir had received two nominations — for Best Documentary Feature Film for The Perfect Neighbor and Best Documentary Short Film for The Devil Is Busy. However, neither film secured a win.
The ceremony was hosted by television personality and comedian Conan O'Brien for the second consecutive year, maintaining the event’s reputation as Hollywood’s biggest night.
The awards ceremony began at 7 p.m. EDT on March 15 (4:30 a.m. IST on March 16) and was streamed live in India on JioHotstar, while also being broadcast on television through Star Movies, Star Movies Select and Colors Infinity.Despite the absence of major Indian wins, the presence of Indian talent and filmmakers ensured that the country maintained its visibility at the global film industry’s most prestigious awards event.
