He further said that the financial document presented by Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman is full of new possibilities of more infrastructure, more investment, more growth, and more jobs. “This Budget has brought a new confidence of development in the midst of 100 years of terrible calamity (Covid-19). This Budget, along with strengthening the economy, will create many new opportunities for the common man,” PM Modi said.Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday hailed the Union Budget as 'visionary' and said it will help making India the world's leading economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The home minister said reducing the fiscal deficit target from 6.9 percent to 6.4 percent is a huge achievement, and through it, India will be able to bring down the fiscal deficit below 4 percent.
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has said the Union Budge is a very progressive and forward-looking one as it prepares India for the next stage of its sustained growth. Kant said Budget 2022-23 is a continuation of the one tabled a year ago. “The real highlight of the Budget is its huge expansion on the capital expenditure,” he said.
Opposition has criticised the new union budget. They called it a "betrayal" to the middle class..Congress leader Rahul Gandhi dubbed the Union Budget for the financial year of 2022-23 a "zero sum budget" as he criticised the financial statement for lacking announcements for the working middle class. Trinamool Congress's Derek O'Brien hit out at the government saying, "Diamonds are this government's best friend. For the rest— farmers, middle class, daily earners, unemployed— this is a PM (Does Not) Care Budget2022".
"On the one hand, the Budget talks of climate action and protecting the environment. On the other, it pushes ecologically disastrous river-linking projects. Rhetoric sounds nice. But actions matter more. On that front, the Modi govt is on a destructive path," tweeted Jairam Ramesh, Congress's former Union Minister. "Disappointing budget. Achhe din pushed even further away. No relief to middle class," said senior party leader Shashi Tharoor. Manish Tewari went a step further, calling it "Insipid Unimaginative Uninspiring Unrealistic Unimplementable".
