Jaipur: 8 killed as chemical-laden truck collides with other vehicles

In Rajasthan, at least eight people were charred to death and nearly 40 others injured in a massive fire that broke out after a tanker carrying LPG gas collided with several other vehicles nea Pushparaj Petrol Pump in Bhankrota on Ajmer Road around 5:30 A.M. on Friday in Jaipur, Police said the fire started after the LPG tanker collided with a truck carrying chemicals, and it soon spread to the fuel pump in the city's Bhankrota area.

Sources report that the fire was so intense that several vehicles within a 300-metre radius were engulfed and completely burned and there were repeated explosions as many of the fuel tanks burst.The victims were taken to a hospital and rescue operations are underway.

Jaipur District Magistrate Jitendra Soni said around 40 vehicles caught the fire in the incident, adding that most of the blaze was under control and fire brigades was brought under control.Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma was seen at the hospital where the injured have been admitted. Multiple fire trucks were deployed to battle the fire which was raging in all directions as many other vehicles were burning at the site. Authorities also shut down the LPG pipeline running beneath the highway to prevent the fire from spreading further.
