Heavy rain batters Delhi NCR waterlogging in many parts of city

Heavy rain lashed Delhi=NCR Saturday morning, affecting traffic in several parts of the city due to waterlogging in several places. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for most parts of Delhi-NCR. Waterlogging at Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, RK Puram, Moti Bagh, Kidwai Nagar, among others, slowed down traffic in the area. In several areas, the rain started in the night and continued with the same intensity till morning, leaving several underpasses flooded and streets waterlogged.

According to the plane tracking site Flightradar, Delhi is witnessing an average delay of at least 15 minutes in flight departures and a five-minute delay in arrivals. The Delhi airport, however, mentioned that all flights are normal at present. Many airlines have also issued advisories for passengers, urging them to check their flight status before leaving for the airport.

"As per the Indian Meteorological Department's forecast, Delhi is experiencing inclement weather conditions. However, all flight operations at Delhi Airport are currently normal. Our on-ground teams are working diligently with all stakeholders to ensure your journey remains hassle-free. For the latest flight information, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines," the Delhi Airport said in a post on X.

The Met department on Saturday posted on their X handle informing of the expected rainfall, stating that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by moderate thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at most places of Delhi, NCR. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by light thunderstorms and lightning is very likely to occur at Gohana, Sonipat, Rohtak, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad, and other places.
