2 Dubai-Bound SpiceJet flights delayed at Delhi Airport, protests erupt

Around 200 passengers protested at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport after two SpiceJet flights to Dubai were repeatedly rescheduled and significantly delayed, according to sources.SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105 were scheduled to depart for Dubai on Monday morning and evening, respectively. However, both flights were rescheduled multiple times, leaving several passengers stranded at the airport.
According to sources, passengers staged protests at various locations inside Terminal 3 (T3) from late Monday evening over the prolonged delays. Airport officials subsequently took up the matter with SpiceJet executives.
The airline attributed the delays to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft.“SpiceJet flights SG 5111 and SG 5105, operating from Delhi to Dubai, have been delayed due to operational reasons following the grounding of an aircraft,” a SpiceJet spokesperson said.“Alternate flights are being arranged to accommodate the affected passengers, and the airline is making every effort to minimise the inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson added.
The airline also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and said efforts were underway to arrange alternate flights. The latest disruption comes as SpiceJet faces continuing operational and financial challenges. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu recently said that the civil aviation ministry and aviation regulator DGCA were closely monitoring the airline’s financial position and operations.
