Delhi election results:Atishi wins, Kejriwal & Sisodia lose

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal has accepted defeat in the Delhi assembly election. Arvind Kejriwal also lost his re-election bid from the New Delhi seat to former two-time BJP MP Parvesh Verma. He finished around 1,200 votes behind his rival, with the Congress' Sandeep Dikshit third, a set of results that will also reignite talk over the rift between the two parties - both members of the stuttering INDIA bloc - and if an alliance may have allowed the AAP boss to retain his seat if not his government. Kejriwal has held the New Delhi seat since 2013, when he beat Congress stalwart and then Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to herald what would be the AAP's decade-long rule of Delhi.Kejriwal said AAP will play the role of a constructive opposition and will continue to serve the people of Delhi.
"We have done a lot of work in the field of health, education, and infrastructure in the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them," he added.
Former deputy, Manish Sisodia, surrendered his contest in Janpgura. He lost to BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by just 600 votes. Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also suffered a loss in Greater Kailash, where he was defeated by BJP’s Shikha Rai by a margin of 3,139 votes.
Meanwhile Delhi chief minister Atishi managed to retain her Kalkaji seat, defeating BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri by over 900 votes in a stiff contest. She said results are a setback for AAP but we accept people's mandate. "Will continue our fight against BJP's dictatorship, hooliganism," Atishi said.
