BJP registered a clean sweep in the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh elections, winning all three key posts. Saurabh Joshi was elected Mayor, Jasmanpreet Singh became Senior Deputy Mayor, and Suman Sharma was elected Deputy Mayor.Saurabh Joshi won the election for the post of Mayor of Chandigarh. Saurabh Joshi got 18 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party’s Yogesh Dhingra got 11 votes, and Congress candidate Gurpreet Singh Gabi got 7 votes. Chandigarh MP Manish Tiwari voted in favor of Congress candidate Gurpreet Singh Gabi. This time, the voting for the mayoral election was done by a show of hands by the councilors, which was supervised by the presiding officer, Ramnik Singh Bedi.

The BJP candidate Jasmanpreet Singh won the post of Senior Deputy Mayor. He got 18 votes, while Aam Aadmi Party candidate Munawwar Khan got 11 votes. The post of Deputy Mayor was also won by BJP candidate Suman Sharma. Suman Sharma got 18 votes, and Jaswinder Kaur from AAP got 11 votes. The Congress party did not participate in the elections for Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor. After the voting, Aam Aadmi Party’s Chandigarh in-charge Jarnail Singh targeted the Congress party in a tweet, saying that Congress had once again supported the BJP.
