West Bengal:18 killed in road accident in Nadia district

In West Bengal, at least 18 people died in a road accident at Fulbari in Nadia district on Sunday. According to information one car carrying a dead body from Bagdah, North 24 Parganas to Nabadwip for cremation hit a truck that was standing on the road midnight and got overturned. The injured were taken to hospital where 13 people were announced to be brought dead. Four of the seriously injured succumbed to injuries later this morning. Among the dead persons, 11 belonged to the same family and extended family and three were from Nadia. State Ministers Jyotipria Mallick and Ujjwal Biswas visited the hospital to see the injured. Bagdah MLA Biswajit Das and Shantipur MLA Brojo Kishore Goswami also visited the hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed pain at the loss of lives due to a road accident in Nadia, West Bengal. In a tweet, he said his thoughts are with the bereaved families. He hoped that the injured recover at the earliest.The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund PMNRF for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to the road accident in Nadia, West Bengal. Fifty thousand rupees would be given to the injured.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee offered deepest condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those who were injured. In a tweet, she said, ‘Government will extend every necessary assistance and support to the kin of the victims..
