The Central government on Monday appointed new Dy NSA and 9 IAS officers as Secretaries.Former Indian envoy to China Vikram Misri was appointed deputy national security adviser in the national security council secretariat. Misri, a 1989 batch IFS officer, will come in place of Pankaj Saran who demits office on December 31, 2021. Misri has worked in the prime minister's office before and is well versed with the strategic environment in Indo Pacific. Vikram Misri will report to national security adviser Ajit Doval. The other two deputy NSAs are Rajender Khanna and Datta Pandsalgikar.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointments 9 IAS officers as Secretaries. Accordingly, Ms. Vini Mahajan, lAS (PB:87) appointed as Secretary, Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ms. Leena Nandan, lAS (UP:87), goes as Secretary, Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Sanjay Kumar Singh, lAS (MP:87) will be new Secretary, Steel,Rohit Kumar Singh, lAS (RJ:89), as Secretary, Consumer Affairs, V. Srinivas, lAS (RJ:89), Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Department of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare, Manoj Joshi, lAS (KL:89),will take over as Secretary, Housing & Urban Affairs, Rajeev Ranjan, lAS (MP:89), has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes, Pankaj Jam, lAS (AM:90) will be new Secretary,Petroleum & Natural Gas. and Bharat Lal, IFoS:GJ (88), joins as Secretary to the Lokpal. Bharat Lal is schedule to retire on January 31 next year but he will on contract basis for a period of one year beyond the date of his superannuation on usual terms and conditions applicable to re-employed Central Government officers
