In Uttar Pradesh, 13 people including 11 women and 2 children died in a tragic accident in Kushinagar district on Wednesday evening. The accident happened in Nebua Naurangia village where women and children in large numbers were participating in a marriage ritual. They were sitting on a cement slab that was used to cover an old well. Slab broke all of sudden and they all fell into the well. DM S Rajalingam told media persons that debris of the slab fell over the women and children into the well. Police reached at the spot and rescue operation continued till late at night. The injured have been admitted to the hospital and two children are in serious condition.
President Ram Nath Kovind has expressed grief over the deaths of people including women and children in the accident at Kushinagar of Uttar Pradesh. In a tweet, Kovind expressed his deepest condolences to all the bereaved families. The President also wished the injured a speedy recovery. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the accident which took place in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh is heart-wrenching. In a tweet, Modi said that the local administration is engaged in providing all possible help. The Prime Minister also expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives in the accident and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
