Power Minister R K Singh has said that there will be no power shortage in the country and unnecessary panic is being created and this is due to miscommunication from GAIL and Tata, Talking to reporters in New Delhi after chairing a meeting with Ministry of Power and discoms, Singh said, Delhi is being supplied the required amount of electricity and it will continue to get the power as much they need. "The panic has been unnecessarily created and the country has four days' reserve," said the power minister. "Delhi will continue to get supply and there will be no load shedding... The supply of domestic or imported coal will continue irrespective of the charges. Under no circumstances the gas supply will come down," he added.
The Minister said, he has asked the GAIL CMD to continue supplying the required amount of gas to power stations across the country. He said, neither there was any shortage of gas in the past, nor will it happen in the future. Singh said, his Ministry is monitoring every day the coal and Gas supply to every power station. The supply, he said, routinely drops during monsoon as the mines get flooded, but the demand remains high especially with the growing economy.Taking a dig at the Congress, he said, "The Congress government should have raised its reserve during their tenure rather than load shedding in their time".
