Twitter suspended a number of prominent journalists on the platform without warning or explanation. Twitter has suspended accounts belonging to rival Mastodon and several journalists from well-known publications, including CNN, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and The Independent. The platform claims that it is suspending accounts that pose a threat to others' well-being as part of its new privacy policies. The reasons behind the suspension of Mastodon's accounts are unclear, and more information from Twitter is needed. This follows the suspension of the ElonJet account earlier this week, which tracked the movements of Elon Musk's private jet. Musk commented on the suspension, stating that the same doxxing rules apply to "journalists" as to everyone else. He alsosaid that Twitter suspended some journalists' accounts as they posted his "exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service".

Many of the reporters regularly covered Musk’s takeover of Twitter in recent months. Musk stated that the suspensions would only last seven days
