Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted that restoring balance is not just a global cause but a global urgency. Addressing the gathering at WHO Global Summit on Traditional Medicine in New Delhi, Modi said that yoga has shown the whole world the path to health, balance and harmony. He said that with the efforts of India and the cooperation of more than 175 countries, 21st June was declared International Day of Yoga by the United Nations. He said that over the years, everyone have seen yoga reaching every corner of the world. Modi said, the growing ease of resources and facilities without physical exertion is giving rise to unexpected challenges for human health. He said, traditional healthcare must look beyond immediate needs and it is everyone’s collective responsibility to prepare for the future as well. The Prime Minister said, It is India’s privilege and a matter of pride that the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine has been established in Jamnagar.

He said, the inauguration of the WHO South-East Asia Regional Office in Delhi marks another milestone. Mr Modi said, offering as a humble gift from India, this global hub will advance research, strengthen regulation, and foster capacity building. Emphasising that India is focusing on partnerships of healing across the world, Prime Minister Modi shared two significant collaborations. He said, first is the establishment of a Centre of Excellence for BIMSTEC countries, covering South and South-East Asia and the second is a collaboration with Japan aimed at integrating science, traditional practices, and health.
