Sunday lockdown imposed in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh government has announced complete closure on every Sunday in the entire state. The decision was taken by Chief Minister Yogi AdityaNath after reviewing the covid situation in state with senior officers. He said that only emergency services and sanitation work along with awareness drive will continue on Sunday in state. This complete closure will be applicable to rural and urban areas as well.Chief Minister has ordered very strict punishment for people who roam without masks. For the first time offenders, the penalty will be thousand rupees and on second time the penalty will be 10000 rupees.Quarantine centres will be set up in each district of Uttar Pradesh. Arrangements for food and housing are also to be made at these centres.It is necessary to notify containment zones to break the chain of transmission, UP CM Yogi Adityanath told officials on Friday.Covid-19 help desks are to be set up at prominent locations across the state.
State is currently having more than 1 lakh active covid cases. State government has taken a slew of measures to stop the spread of virus further. AIR correspondent reports that OPD services in all government hospitals across the state have been suspended from today till next orders, although emergency services will be functional.Government has said that Case under epidemic act will be filed against those hospitals who refuse to admit covid positive patients. Meanwhile to deal with the grave situation of covid in state capital Lucknow, Balrampur hospital and KGMU Lucknow has been turned into a dedicated covid hospital. Chief Minister ordered that a 1000 bedded temporary hospital for covid treatment will be prepared at the defence expo ground in Lucknow. Medical kit containing covid medicine for 1 week will be provided to every covid positive person in state who is in home isolation.  Chief Minister said that there is no dearth of medicines in state for covid treatment. He ordered the chief secretary of state to review and ensure the availability of Remdesivir injection in state. Extra Remdesivir injection will be purchased after taking stock of the one month availability situation.
