Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Saturday e-launched Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY (SEHAT) Scheme for all the residents of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The scheme is expected to benefit at least 15 lakh families, who will be able to get free of cost treatment at all Government and select private hospitals. The scheme will cover all those residents who are ineligible under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. SEHAT provides a health-cover of 5 lakh rupees per family per year. There is no cap on family size and JK residents can avail the benefits of the scheme at all designated hospitals across the country.
In his address PM Modi attacked the Opposition for giving him "sermons" on democracy. Puducherry is not conducting elections despite Supreme Court order. The peaceful election of Jammu and Kashmir’s District Development Council is a mirror to those who teach me democracy every day, Modi said. PM Modi, said there was no democracy in India and that those who stood up against the PM were labelled terrorists. "There are people in Delhi who always taunt and insult me. They want to teach me lessons in democracy. I want to show them Jammu and Kashmir DDC polls as an example of democracy," PM Modi said. PM Modi also interacted with the beneficiaries of the scheme, congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir and ensured everyone will benefit from the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
