Madrasas are jihadi factories, shouldn't exist,Taslima backs UCC

Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen on Sunday said that, in her opinion, madrasas "should not exist", alleging that some of these educational institutions were producing "jihadis" and witnessing cases of child abuse.Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Nasreen alleged that "Child abuse is going on there, rapes are happening... imams and madrasa teachers are being held." Nasreen argued that punishment alone was not enough and called for changes to the education system."They are going to jail, but just punishment won't help... this education system needs a transformation... I don't think there is a need for madrasas... no one does anything after passing out of madrasas... they beg, survive on charity... madrasas should go, and secular schools should come up instead," she said.

She alleged that in Bangladeshi "Hindus have been oppressed before, and they are still being oppressed." "During Yunus' time, Hindus are being oppressed. The most important thing is education." She also called for Bangladesh to become a secular country. Nasrin further alleged that the Bangladesh government does not take action against people who torture Hindus. Nasrin said she has been campaigning for a Uniform Civil Code for the past 40 years. “I have been fighting for a Uniform Civil Code for the last 40 years. This subcontinent needs a Uniform Civil Code. In particular, women should not be governed by religion-based personal laws," she said.
She also said Sheikh Hasina should return and democracy should be restored in Bangladesh. “But nobody has asked me to go back. How will I go back to my country," she said.
