TN:Vijay-led TVK coalition named Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance

In Tamil Nadu, the TVK-led alliance has finally got formally named the alliance as the Secular social justice victory front (Mathachcharpatra Samookaneethi Vetri Koottani). TNCC president B Manickam Tagore said a new alliance has been formed under the leadership of Vijay. The name of the alliance itself speaks volumes about the ideals and agenda of the combine and all parties that fight for the rights of the state are part of the alliance, Tagore said. "The alliance will fight bypolls," he said. 
The decision to name the alliance came after Congress, VCK, MDMK and IUML leaders attended a meeting at the TVK headquarters in Chennai on Wednesday. Among those who took part in the meeting held in Panaiyur were Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president B Manickam Tagore, Congress Rajya Sabha member Praveen Chakravarthy and Assembly floor leader Tharahai Cuthbert. Also present were MDMK leaders Vaiko and his son Durai, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan, and Indian Union Muslim League leaders KM Kader Mohideen, AM Shahjahan and Syed Farooq Basha.
The meeting focused on formalising the alliance structure, with key discussions including the drafting of a Common Minimum Programme, setting up a steering committee, naming a convener and finalising an official name for the bloc. This is also the second time that the Left parties have skipped a meeting of the post-poll allies in Tamil Nadu. Explaining the rationale behind the decision, CPM state secretary P Shanmugam said on Tuesday that the Left parties are only providing external support, which would remain strictly issue-based, with the aim of maintaining political stability in Tamil Nadu.
