Sensex fall 388 pts, Nifty below 24,500 amid rise in crude oil price

The domestic share market ended on a weak note on Tuesday, following elevated crude oil prices due to geopolitical uncertainties and sharp selling pressure in financials.At close Sensex settled 388.19 points or 0.49 lower at 78,154.25, while the  Nifty declined to 24,471.70, down 112.10 points or 0.46 percent.
Dr Reddy's Labs, Eternal, TCS, Titan Company, Infosys were the top gainers on the Nifty,while losers included Tata Consumer, Max Healthcare, UltraTech Cement, Apollo Hospitals, Nestle. According to agency reports, the sectoral indices were mixed, with Nifty Pharma rising 1% and Nifty IT gaining 0.6%, while Nifty Realty, FMCG and Metal declined 1% each, Nifty Infra slipped 0.8%, Nifty Private Bank declined 0.6%, Nifty Auto fell 0.5%, and Nifty Bank shed 0.4%.The broader indices outperformed the benchmark indices, with the Nifty Midcap index ending flat, while the Nifty Smallcap index rose 0.2%.
Rupee Close:
On 11 Aug'26,the Indian rupee declined 13 paise to settle at 95.43  against the US dollar on Tuesday, tracking a sharp rise in global crude oil prices amid geopolitical uncertainties.However, recent foreign capital inflows provided some support to the local unit, forex traders said.
