The Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the way for the National Testing Agency (NTA) to declare the results of the NEET-UG 2021 examination by staying Bombay High Court decision to conduct fresh exams for two aspirants. The aspirants had complained in the court that they were handed question papers and answer sheets with different serial numbers. A Bench led by Justice L. Nageswara Rao froze the High Court order, allowing the NEET results to be declared. The Bench said it would consider the case of the two students, including what could be done for them, in detail later. “These students cannot be left in the lurch. The invigilator has accepted the mistake,” Justice Rao noted. The NTA had approached the Supreme Court in appeal against the High Court order. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, for the NTA, said the confusion had happened in the case of total six students, of which only two had come to court. The remaining four wrote the exam and got good marks, Mr. Mehta submitted.The court reiterated that there was no reason to withhold the results because of a complaint made by two students. The future of lakhs of students was at stake. There are 16 lakhs students who are eagerly waiting for the results.
-The Finance Ministry on Thursday released 44 thousand crore rupees to the States and Union Territories with Legislature under the back-to-back loan facility in lieu of GST Compensation. After taking into account earlier release of one lakh 15 thousand crore rupees, the total amount released in the current financial year is one lakh 59 thousand crore rupees. The Ministry said, this release is in addition to normal GST compensation being released every two months out of actual cess collection. Subsequent to the 43rd GST Council Meeting held on 28th May this year, it was decided that the Central Government will borrow one lakh 59 thousand crore rupees and release it to States and Union Territories to meet the resource gap due to the short release of Compensation on account of inadequate amount in the Compensation Fund.-
-Union Minister and Election Incharge of Bhartiya Janta Party in Punjab, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said, the BJP is ready to contest in all the 117 constituencies in the coming Assembly elections in Punjab. He was addressing a press conference at Chandigarh after having interaction with party office bearers from urban and rural Punjab on Thursday. The party also released a slogan "Navan Punjab, Bhajpa De Naal" and Shekhawat said, the party workers will approach people with this slogan. He said that party will go to polls with resolution of of Corruption Free and Mafia rule free Punjab. He said, every section in Punjab will be given representation according to their ratio in the population. Union Minister Hardeep Puri, Tarun Chugh, Dayal Singh Sodhi and other senior leaders were present on this occasion. Shekhawat said , the people are not happy with congress, Akali Dal and Aam Aadmi Party and are looking towards BJP with hope. He said, in the last six months more than five thousand social and political workers have joined BJP, Which shows the increasing popularity of the party in Punjab. He said that centre and BJP is sensitive about the issue of the farm laws and seriously attempting to solve the issue. He said that the government is ready to make amendments in these laws as per issues raised by farmers. He also told about the initiatives and work done by the BJP led government in the Centre for Punjab and Punjabis.
-The sex ratio in Delhi has increased to 933 females to one thousand males in 2020. According to the annual report of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics of the Government of Delhi, this number was 920 in 2019. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the rise in the sex ratio rate demonstrates increased social awareness. He said, India's culture is becoming more educated and appreciating the importance of the girl child, which is a source of tremendous pride. The infant mortality rate in Delhi has also decreased in comparison to 2019. The infant mortality rate per thousand in 2019 was 24.19 and in 2020 it was 20.37.
-Union Coal and Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi has emphasized on full utilisation of the port facilities at Paradip Port Trust in Odisha to increase coal transportation through the sea route. During his visit to the port on Thursday, he asked the officials to explore possibilities of using Paradip port as a coal hub. Joshi also visited the site of Rail Receival System near Paradip port wherein coal is unloaded with the help of wagon-tipplers. The minister said that this system of unloading is efficient, helps in saving time and demurrage charges, while also reducing the spread of coal dust.Later Joshi laid the foundation stone of Shramik Gaurav Jal Udyan near Balram opencast project of MCL and said that the site has the potential to be developed as a major tourist spot. Visiting the Railway Siding in MCL's Hingula Area the minister emphasized on reducing wagon turn-around time.
