Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, party leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal and 11 others were detained on Friday by the Delhi Police for holding a protest march in the city without taking prior permission from the authorities. The SAD under the leadership of its president Sukhbir Singh Badal, was observing September 17 as "black day" as it marks one year since the enactment of farm laws. The party had given a call to take out the march starting from Gurdwara Raquab Ganj Sahib to the Parliament house against the three farm laws passed by Parliament last year. It also called on farmers and supporters from Punjab to turn up in Delhi and take out a protest march to demand a repeal of the three laws.
Massive traffic jams hit parts of the national capital, including Lutyens' Delhi and ITO, on Friday amid a protest march. Barricades were put in place at several locations in the capital, prompting SAD supporters to raise slogans against the police and the government. Vehicular movement was also hit at Jhandewalan-Panchkuian road.
