Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani on Sunday announced an investment of Rs7 lakh crore in Gujarat over the next five years, underscoring the conglomerate’s deep-rooted commitment to the state’s development.Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for Kutch and Saurashtra in Rajkot, Ambani said Gujarat is far more than just a location for the Reliance Group. “Development of Gujarat is our sankalp—big in vision, bold in execution, rooted in Gujarat and dedicated to the service of Bharat Mata,” he said.Ambani noted that Reliance is already the largest investor in Gujarat, having invested ₹3.5 lakh crore in the state over the past five years. “We will now double this investment to ₹7 lakh crore over the next five years, creating exponential employment, livelihoods and greater sampatti for every Gujarati and Indian,” he added.
Outlining Reliance’s roadmap, Ambani announced five firm commitments for Gujarat, spanning clean energy, artificial intelligence, sports infrastructure and social development. As part of its clean energy push, Reliance is building what Ambani described as the world’s largest integrated clean energy ecosystem at Jamnagar. The project will cover solar power, battery energy storage, green hydrogen, green fertilisers, sustainable aviation fuel, maritime fuels and advanced materials. “These are not only industries of the future, they are foundations of India’s prosperous tomorrow,” he said, adding that Jamnagar will evolve from being a major hydrocarbon exporter to India’s largest exporter of green energy and materials.Ambani also announced plans to transform Kutch into a global clean energy hub. Reliance’s multi-gigawatt, utility-scale solar project—among the largest in the world—will provide round-the-clock clean power through advanced storage systems and modern grid integration, reinforcing Gujarat’s leadership in renewable energy. On technology, Ambani said Reliance aims to make Gujarat India’s artificial intelligence pioneer. In Jamnagar, the group is building India’s largest AI-ready data centre with the objective of delivering affordable AI solutions to every Indian. Jio, he said, will launch a people-first intelligence platform, built in India for India and the world, enabling citizens to access AI services in their own language and on their own devices.
The fifth commitment focuses on sports and social infrastructure. Ambani said the Reliance Foundation is ready to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of hosting the 2036 Olympics in Ahmedabad. As a concrete step, Reliance will partner with the Gujarat government to manage the Veer Savarkar Multi-Sports Complex in Naranpura, envisioned as a hub for national and international sporting events and athlete training. The group also plans to establish a world-class hospital in Jamnagar and significantly expand its education facilities in the region. The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) – Kutch & Saurashtra was formally inaugurated at Marwadi University, Rajkot, on Sunday. The platform aims to drive region-specific growth by strengthening MSMEs and startups, promoting innovation and unlocking new investment opportunities across Kutch and Saurashtra.
