The CBI has arrested six railway officials, including a Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (DME) in bribery cases. According to the agency statement, Anmol Ukey,Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer (DME), South East Central Railway (SECR), Bhilai, in a bribery case. He is an IRSME officer. The CBI registered the instant case on Thursday for demanding Rs. 2 Lakh from the complainant for clearing his pending bills. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. One Lakh from the complainant, said the statement. The agenvy arrested him the same day whileallegedly accepting Rs 50,000 as part payment of the demanded bribe, through a tout who collected the bribe amount from the complainant on his instructions.The accused Sr. DME was arrested along with the tout on Friday and the Court has granted 4 days' police custody of the accused persons.Searches were conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused in Raipur and Bhilai. During the search, massive cash of Rs. 77 Lakhapprox. and jewellery worth Rs. 14 Lakh approximately was found.
The CBI also arrested 5 more Raliway officers fro Jaipur and Nikaner on Friday. All these officers beling to North Western Railway.. According to CBI,the First case was registered on August 13 against Office Superintendent, North Western Railway (NWR), Jaipur,Ms Sangeeta Kumari who in collusion and conspiracy with other unknown public servants/private persons and officials of a private company, at Navi Mumbai, Maharasthra, was indulging in the practice of demand and acceptance of illegal gratification in lieu of favorable processing and passing of bills for the work being executed by the company under NWR, Jaipur.
During the trap operation, Ms Kumari, Assistant Financial Advisor, NWR, Jaipur, S N Bairwa,Sr. SO,Sunil Kumar Sanghi and an Employee of the Navi Mumbai based private company were arrested same day and bribe amount of Rs. 1.46 Lakh was recovered.Further, incriminating documents, electronic devices and cash amount of Rs. 9 Lakh were also seized during the searches conducted at multiple locations in Jaipur and Delhi.
The Second case was also registered on August againstRajendra Choudhary, Sr. Section Officer, North Western Railway (NWR), Bikaner, who in collusion and conspiracy with other unknown public servants/private persons and officials of a private company at Kolkata, was indulging in the practice of demand and acceptance of illegal gratification in lieu of favorable processing and passing of bills for the work being executed by the company under Bikaner division.
During the trap operation, Choudhary and NWR, Bikaner and Rakesh Kumar, Account Assistant, NWR, Bikaner and an employee of the Kolkata based private company were arrested and bribe amount of Rs. 1.20 Lakh was recovered.Further, searches were conducted at multiple locations in Bikaner and Jaipur and incriminating documents & electronic devices were seized
