Congress leaders- Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday reached Amethi in UP. The Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi visited Amethi for the second time since the 2019 Lok Sabha loss. Speaking at a rally. Rahul continued his tirade against 'Hindutva'. Rahul Gandhi said 'Hindutvawadis' were directly responsible for the rising inflation, pain and sadness in the country. Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi said while the PM takes a dip in the Ganga river, he keeps mum on issues such as unemployment.
Gandhi said the central government remains busy in marketing to divert public attention from important issues. He said, "Every lane in Amethi is still the same. Only that there's anger against the government in people's eyes.""Middle-class people and the poor people were badly affected by some of the decisions taken by the PM, which also resulted in large-scale unemployment. Demonetisation, GST, no help during the Covid crisis are the major reasons for unemployment in India."
Rahul had represented Amethi, a stronghold of the Nehru-Gandhi family, for 15 years in Lok Sabha. However, in 2019, he was defeated in Amethi by the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Smriti Irani by 55,120 votes but won from Wayanad in Kerala.
