Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday held a high level meeting in New Delhi with the senior officials to review the security situation in the wake of the naxal attack in Chhattisgarh. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director, Intelligence Bureau Arvind Kumar and senior CRPF officers were among those attended the meeting. Shah paid his tributes to the martyred Jawans. He assured the martyrs' families and the country that the sacrifices made by the Jawans for the country will not go in vain. Home Minister said that the fight against Naxalism will continue strongly and firmly with intensity and will take it to the conclusion.

-Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Sunday said that the government is committed towards the welfare of all people and especially the elderly of the country. He also informed that the Health Ministry has a programme dedicated to addressing the various health related problems of the elderly called the “National Programme for the Health Care of Elderly” (NPHCE). He was addressing the 40th anniversary of AGE-CARE India and the Elders Day celebrations in New Delhi today. He said, the elderly and people with co-morbidities are being given the priority for inoculation. Detailing the success in the front of challenges posed by COVID19, he said, more than a million people are tested on a regular basis and from one single laboratory to test positivity at the initial stage of the pandemic, India now has more than 2000 labs across the country. 

Election flying squad seized gold coins and cash from Thirunallar in Karaikal district of the union territory of Puducherry. According to police, on a complaint that gold coins and cash is being distributed to voters to lure them to vote for a particular party, flying squad conducted a sudden raid. A few people standing in Thirunallar on seeing the flying squad fled the scene on their vehicles and the squad found 149 gold coins and Rs.96,000 from the place they were standing.They handed over the seizure to the Thirunallar police station. Police registered a case and investigated. Meanwhile Durgaprasad Bommadi, an independent candidate contesting the April 6 assembly election, in the Yanam constituency of the Union Territory of Puducherry was reported missing from April 1. 
 -The government of Bangladesh on Sunday announced that all public transport services including roads, waterways, railways and domestic flight will remain suspended during the week-long lock-down in the country starting from Monday. In a new circular the government has directed that freight and emergency services will not come under the purview of the lockdown. All the government and private offices will provide their own transport for the employees to operate on a limited scale.The earlier circular had already limited the number of employees attending office to fifty percent of the capacity. Industries and factories will operate in shifts with due health safety measures for their workers.People will not be allowed to move out between 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning, except for emergency situations. Shops, malls and restaurants will be closed but they can continue operating online. Household items can be bought and sold only in open spaces. Banks will issue directives to continue their work on a limited scale.

-In the BWF Para Badminton tournament in Dubai, top Indian shuttlers, Pramod Bhagat, Sukant Kadam and Nitesh Kumar sailed into the finals of the singles and doubles events in their respective categories.Reigning world champion Manasi Joshi, promising Palak Kohli and top seed Krishna Nagar too entered the final. Prem Kumar Ale would be eyeing two gold medals, as he entered the men's doubles and mixed doubles finals.In the men's singles  final, Bhagat will take on compatriot Nitesh, who defeated fellow Indian Manoj Sarkar in a nail-biting contest 21-19, 22-20.
