PM Modi extends Easter greetings, stresses hope and unity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday extended greetings to citizens on the occasion of Easter, emphasising the festival’s message of hope, renewal, and unity.In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Greetings on Easter. This sacred day celebrates hope and renewal. May it bring peace, joy and brightness to everyone’s lives. May the teachings of Jesus Christ inspire all to be kind and strengthen the spirit of togetherness in society.”

Easter, one of the most significant festivals in Christianity, is being celebrated across India and around the world with devotion and enthusiasm. Churches are holding special prayers and Masses to mark the resurrection of Jesus Christ, believed to have taken place three days after his crucifixion.The festival follows the 40-day period of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday and is observed through fasting, prayer, and reflection. The concluding Holy Week includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday, marking key events leading up to the crucifixion.
Meanwhile, Pope Leo XIV, while presiding over the Easter Vigil Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica, urged people to overcome fear, mistrust, and resentment, which he said continue to divide societies and nations.He called on the faithful to not be weighed down by these challenges, stressing the importance of unity and compassion in a world facing conflict and division.Easter, symbolising the triumph of life over death and hope over despair, continues to serve as a powerful reminder of faith, renewal, and collective harmony.
