Amarjeet Sinha, an Advisor to PM Narendra Modi,reportedly has resigned. But there was no official statement in this regard. Sinha is a 1983 batch Bihar cadre Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer. He retired as the Secretary, Rural Development in December 2019. He was appointed as an adviser to PM Modi in February last year. The reason behind his resignation is not yet clear. This is the second key resignation this year from the PMO. The PM’s principal secretary, PK Sinha, resigned earlier in March.
Sinha was appointed as an adviser to the PM, along with another key officer Bhaskar Khulbe, after his retirement. He is known to have played a crucial role in schemes such as National Rural Health Mission and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Sinha has also served as a trainer for future bureaucrats at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Sinha has held several important posts in the govrnment of India.
