Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said India’s resolute response on the borders has helped in positive and peaceful resolution of certain significant issues. He saluted the selfless courage displayed by the soldiers during the recent Eastern Ladakh standoff. The Minister on Frisay,was addressing the Combined Commanders’ Conference at Kevadia. He said, ability to secure India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty from external threats and internal challenges have been strengthened in the recent years. He added that Indian forces today are proactive and more resolute in their response. Singh said the armed forces are capable to protect nation’s interests and India has nurtured close relations and partnerships with like-minded countries to further the common security interests. He elaborated that national interests are defined by the elements of national integration, sovereignty, sociology-economic development, conservation of Indian values and peaceful and harmonious region and world. He said, government is committed to protect the territorial integrity and ensure peace in the region.
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) will create a necessary ecosystem for various industries to boost their production and manufacturing of quality products. The Prime Minister was speaking at a webinar of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade and Niti Aayog on PLI Scheme ob Frisay. This scheme has been launched to make the country self reliant in various sectors by providing incentives to the industries to boost the production. Modi has stressed on the need to improve the quality of indigenously manufactured products to make them more competitive and acceptable across the world.The Prime Minister added that the scheme will also enhance the export capabilities of the industries, generate employment and improve income. Modi said provisions of more than two lakh crore rupees have been made in the budget for the PLI scheme and it is expected that it will lead to production of products worth of 520 billion dollars in the coming five years.
-Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) hands over more than 60 sets of various categories of Special Clothing and Mountaineering Equipment (SCME) to Himachal Pradesh Police personnel deployed on Atal Tunnel Security today at the south portal of tunnel, Rohtang. Sh Prem Singh, DIG ITBP Shimla handed over the sets to Madhusudan Sharma, DIG Central Range, Himachal Pradesh Police. The sets will be used by HP police personnel in extreme cold conditions. Atal Tunnel is located at altitudes of more than 10000 feet where winter temperature remains sub zero in snow conditions around.
-Newly formed Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir Union Territories will have a separate cell in National Commission for Women (NCW). The Commission's Chairperson Rekha Sharma said that by the end of this month, separate cell for the new UTs will be created.Four days ahead of International Women's Day, Ladakh became the launching pad for the first-ever online training programme Empowering Women through Entrepreneurship. In collaboration with IIM, Bangalore and India SME Forum, the Commission is providing online training to five thousand women entrepreneurs from across the country. Chairperson Rekha Sharma said that NCW chose Ladakh for the occasion, to involve the women in the journey of development.On the other hand, in the absence of State Women's Commissions to deal with the women issues in the new Union Territories, NCW is creating a separate cell this month.Rekha Sharma also appealed to the UT Administration to provide women entrepreneurs with internet facilities or facilitate at a common point to participate in the training programme.
-Officers of Central Goods and Services Tax, East Delhi Commissionerate, have arrested two person for defrauding the Government Exchequer of more than 390 crore rupees. The amount quantified is likely to increase as the investigation progresses. As per the Finance Ministry, since the inception of GST Central Tax, Delhi Zone has made 30 arrests in various cases involving GST evasion of more than 4 thousand 450 crore rupees.
-India's total vaccine supply under the Vaccine Maitri initiative has reached 461.66 lakh doses. Briefing media on Friday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said, of this, 71.5 lakh doses have been delivered through grant and 288.4 lakh doses on commercial terms. In total, India has delivered vaccines to 47 countries and to UN healthcare workers as well. Mr Srivastava said, Vaccine Maitri initiative has been guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement that India's delivery and production capacity will be used for the benefit of mankind.The spokesperson also said that Phase 10 of the Vande Bharat Mission is currently operational. Under this phase, more than 1350 international flights are scheduled to be operated from 28 countries. This will facilitate an estimated 2 lakh 60 thousand people. Of these, nearly 920 flights are from GCC countries, around 150 from US and Canada, around 120 from UK and Europe, around 100 from South East Asia and around 50 from India's neighbourhood.
