President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 139 Padma Awards for the Year 2025. The Awards, among the country’s highest civilian honours, are conferred in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan ( 3 Posthumous), 19 Padma Bhushan (4 Posthumous) and 113 Padma Shri Awards (6 Posthumous). 23 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 10 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 13 Posthumous awardees. The awards are given in various disciplines, such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service etc. Indian writer MT Vasudevan Nair, former chairman of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Osamu Suzuki, and singer Sharda Sinha have been awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously. Singer Pankaj Udhas has been given the Padma Bhushan posthumously.
These Awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March/ April every year.
