President Droupadi Murmu presented the Gallantry Awards at second Defence Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday evening. Air Marshal Tarun Chaudhary, Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, Lieutenant General Vikas Rohella, Lieutenant General Harbinder Singh Vandra and Lieutenant General Mohinder Pal Singh were awarded Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.

Vice President CP Radhaskrishnan and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with other Union Ministers and senior officials of the armed forces were also present on the occasion. These awards are given in recognition of exceptional acts of bravery by personnel of the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces and other security agencies. The awards reflect India’s continuing battle against terrorism, insurgency and hostile threats across Jammu and Kashmir, the Northeast and along the country’s borders, while also recognising acts of extraordinary courage in aviation, maritime operations and humanitarian missions.
