In India, the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is "spreading rapidly"-there are more than 100 cases in 11 states. The Health Ministry on Friday, warned that 19 districts were at high risk of a surge in COVID-19 cases. Meanwhile, five cases have also been reported from Gujarat and Kerala each. Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have each reported a case of Omicron, the health ministry’s joint secretary Lav Agarwal said during a regular press briefing.
