The union home ministry has tighten the rules fro OCI card holders. According to new guidelines, issued on Friday, the MHA has said that Overseas Citizen of India(OCI) card-holders will need special permission if they want to take up any missionary, Tabligh or journalistic activities. They are required to take special permission from the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for such activities. Overseas Indians will also need permission to take up any research work, internship with foreign missions or if they need to visit areas designated as restricted or protected.
The OCI cardholders have to inform the FRRO if there is a change in address. Under the new rules, OCI card holders can now apply for multiple entry lifelong visa for visiting India for any purpose. The OCI caedholders will be given parity with Indian nationals in case of tarrif in domestic air travel and entry fees for national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and other historical sites.
