Nifty near 24,300, Sensex down 114 pts amid volatility

The domestic share market traded on a negative note in a highly volatile session on Thursday, as investors remained cautious amid continued foreign fund outflows and rising geopolitical concerns.At close, the Sensex was down 114 points or 0.15 percent at 77,844.52, and the Nifty was down 4.30 points or 0.02 percent at 24,326.65.
HDFC Life Insurance, Bajaj Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra, Grasim Industries and NTPC were the top gainers on the Nifty while losers included Tech Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever, Titan Company, TCS and ITC.On the sectoral front,selling pressure was seen in FMCG, IT, PSU Bank and consumer durable stocks, while buying interest emerged in auto, defence, media, defence, metal counters.Broader markets outperformed the benchmarks, with the Nifty Midcap index rising 1.1% and the Smallcap index gaining 0.9%.

On 7 May'26, the Indian rupee ended 36 paise higher to close at 94.25 against the US dollar on Thursday .
