In a major and sudden reshuffle in the Maharashtra police department, Hemant Nagrale has been appointed new Commissioner of Police , Mumbai replacing Parambir Singh, who has been transferred to the state home guard department as DG. Nagrale is DGP of Maharashtra. The state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted on Wednesday. Rajneesh Sheth will have the additional charge of Maharashtra’s Director General of Police, while Sanjay Pandey has the responsibility of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation, according to Deshmukh. Singh was appointed CP, Mumbai in February last year. Nagrale is a 1987 batch IPS officer.Singh is a 1988 batch IPS officer.
In January this year, Hemant Nagrale had taken the additional charge of Maharashtra’s Director General of Police following the appointment of incumbent Subodh Jaiswal as DG of the Central Industrial Security Force. The massive change comes alongside a snowballing investigation against Mumbai police officer Sachin Vaze, who was arrested last week by NIA in connection with an explosives-filled SUV found abandoned near Mukesh Ambani's multistorey home Antilia in Mumbai. On Monday, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar had met to discuss the controversy. The MVA comprises the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena, NCP and the Congress.
