The much awaited Sansad TV started its telecast. It will replace the existing Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha TV. Prime minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sansad TV on Wednesday. While addressing the function PM Modi said that if there is better behaviour and better debate in Parliament, then it will have a better connect with the people of India—an essential impetus for democracy to reach the grass root level. He said that Parliament is not only about politics but policy too and described content as "connect", saying this is as much applicable to the parliamentary system as to the media.. Noting that the launch coincides with International Day of Democracy, Modi reiterated that India is mother of democracy, saying democracy is not just a system but an idea and not merely a constitutional structure but spirit. Democracy in India is not just a collection of the Articles of the Constitutions but it is our life stream, the prime minister added.
Sansad TV will be on social media, apps and on the OTT platform. It will reach more people. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla noted that Sansad TV will help the country to watch the entire democratic system from Parliament to panchayat. This will show the positive and inspiring work of our elected reps and make young people aware of our parliamentary work. Vice President and Speaker Rajya Sabha alsso addressed the gethering.
