Around two lakh 66 thousand crore rupees have been spent during the last six years for the development of North Eastern States. This was stated by Development of North Eastern Region Minister G. Kishan Reddy in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Monday. The Minister said, important initiatives have been taken by the Central Government for improving air, rail, road, power, waterways and telecom connectivity in the North Eastern States. He said, these initiatives have accelerated the development of the region. He said, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region has also taken steps to bridge the social and physical infrastructure gaps and facilitate development of the North Eastern Region on a large scale.
-Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr. Jitendra Singh has said that more than 80 per cent of the work of government is being done online. Inaugurating the Good Governance Week in New Delhi on Monday as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Dr Singh said, thanks to digital India initiative, the works went on smoothly even during the Covid period. He said, the public grievances have increased from two lakh in 2014 to more than 25 lakhs at present with more than 95 percent disposal of cases. The theme of Good Governance Week is Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur - a Nation-wide campaign for Redressal of Public Grievances and Improving Service Delivery will be held in all Districts, States, and Union Territories. During the week-long event, more than 700 District Collectors will visit Tehsil and Panchayat Samiti Headquarters to provide timely grievance redressal and improve service delivery.
-Delhi Government has revoked the ban on construction and demolition sites including entry of trucks in the capital. Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, the government has resumed permission for construction and demolition sites with 14 rules related to pollution control. He added, construction sites will have to strictly follow the rules otherwise strict action will be taken against the violators, and the sites can also be sealed. The minister said, the campaigns of anti dust, anti open burning, water sprinkling and Pollution Under Control investigation will continue in Delhi.
-Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari inaugurated Four National highways with total length of 146 kms built at a cost of Rs 3037 crore in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The minister also laid foundation stone for 3 national highway projects which will cover 86 kms with a total cost of Rs 1,123 crore in Jaunpur. Addressing the functions Nitin Gadkari emphasized on infrastructure development for employment generation and economic prosperity. He said that the government is committed to the development of Uttar Pradesh. He said these road projects will boost the development of state, provide better connectivity in the region and will double the pace of development of the state.
-Winter Session of the Assam Assembly began On Mondya on a stormy note with opposition parties bracing themselves to corner the ruling party on the issue of Gorukhuti eviction and alleged illegal land purchase by the family members of Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma. The Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) had moved adjournment motions over Gorukhuti eviction and alleged illegal land purchase by family members of Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma. They demanded the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Biswajit Daimary, to discuss these matters. When the Speaker rejected the demands, the Opposition staged a walkout. The BJP led government tabled amendments to the Cattle Preservation Bill 2021. The government has decided to bring amendments to the bill after facing criticism from opposition parties and other organizations. The 5-day session of the Assam Assembly will conclude on December 24, 2021.
