In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, ten passengers travelling in a mini bus were killed and several others seriously injured after the vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on Batote-Kishtwar Highway in Doda district of Jammu division on Thursday morning.The mini bus was on its way from Thathri to Doda when it met with the accident near Soi-Gwari area, six kilometres ahead of Pul Doda after the driver lost control on the steering and the bus fell downhill along the banks of Chenab River. Soon, the locals along with Police and Army started a rescue operation. So far, 10 bodies were retrieved from the spot while 13 injured have been shifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Doda for treatment.Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled deaths in road accident at Thatri. Modi said, an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund would be given to the next of kin of those who have lost their lives and the injured would be given Rs 50,000.

Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office Dr. Jitendra Singh said that all the assistance will be provided to local authorities. The Minister also paid condolences to the families of those killed in the road accident.
