The Indian trio of Shreyasi Singh, Manisha Keer and Rajeshwari Kumari won the gold medal in the women's Trap Team event at the ongoing ISSF World Cup being held in New Delhi on Sunday. The Indian shooters, especially the experienced Shreyasi and Manisha, missed very few shots in the final and proved to be too good for their opponents.
Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Shreyasi, Rajeshwari and Manisha scored 321 in the qualification rounds held at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range on Thursday. Kazakhstan's Rysbekova, Dosmagambetova and Dmitriyenko shot a total of 308.The Indian women's team outgunned the Kazakhstan trio 6-0 in the final to give the hosts their 14th gold medal at the shooting World Cup.
India have dominated the medals tally at the ISSF World Cup and the women's trap team gold was the 29th medal for the hosts. Next best, the USA, are way behind with a total of eight medals.In the men's Trap Team event, Kynan Chenai, Prithviraj Tondaiman and Lakshay lost to Slovakia in the gold medal match, bagging a silver medal for India. India’s Vijayveer Sidhu, Gurpreet Singh and Adarsh Singh looked off colour and settled for the silver medal in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team event of the ISSF shooting World Cup.The USA’s Keith Sanderson, Jack Hobson Leverett III, and Henry Turner Leverett won the gold medal with a 10-2 victory over the home team on the last competition day of the tournament.
