Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said, the Government today thinks like a startup, relentlessly focusing on newer and better ideas to improve the efficiency and integrity of systems and processes. Presenting the National Startup Awards 2022 in New Delhi on Monday, the Minister emphasised on the need for a more robust database on startups to connect them with the Government, industry bodies and the public. Goyal added that initiatives like Digital India, and broadband connectivity in villages drove the growth of the startup ecosystem, especially in remote parts of the nation.

He appreciated the Mentorship, Advisory, Assistance, Resilience, and Growth (MAARG) portal in this direction and expressed confidence that it would help start-ups in many ways including fine-tuning ideas and accessing the funding ecosystem. He also cited examples of various innovations including Digital India Mission; COWIN app; One Nation, One Ration Card (ONORC); PM GatiShakti National Master Plan; and UPI. The Minister said, it has powered many startups and unicorns.
Startup India Innovation week culminated with the felicitation of National Start-up Awards 2022 winners on National Start-up Day. At the event, 41 startups, two incubators, and one accelerator were recognised as winners.
