A key feature of the platform is ‘Kar Saathi’, an AI-powered chatbot that will assist users with their queries and guide them through various tax-related procedures. The chatbot is expected to provide 24×7 support, helping taxpayers resolve issues and access information seamlessly. The initiative is part of the government’s broader push to modernise tax administration and leverage technology to improve service delivery and transparency.
The rollout of the platform was earlier highlighted by Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Ravi Agrawal during the launch of ‘PRARAMBH’, an outreach programme aimed at ensuring a smooth transition to the new Income Tax Act, 2025.Agrawal had stated that digital services, including the new website and AI-based guidance tools, would be introduced in phases to create a more seamless and technology-driven tax ecosystem. He described PRARAMBH—Policy Reform and Responsible Action for Mission Viksit Bharat—as a significant step in strengthening India’s tax administration framework.Emphasising simplification, he noted that the number of rules has been reduced from 510 to 333, while forms have been cut from 399 to 190. This rationalisation is expected to ease compliance requirements and eliminate the need for over six crore transactions.
