Air Force on Wednesday gave detailed presentation to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on the CDS Bipin Rawat's chopper crash inquiry report. The tri-services probe report has given its findings on reasons behind the crash and made recommendations for future chopper operations for flying VIPs.IAF chief Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari and senior Air Force officials were present. The report of the tri-services inquiry team was presented to the government on December 31st. The detailed report, prepared under Air Marshal Manvendra Singh and two Brigadier-rank officers from the Army and Navy, included a thorough analysis of the data received from the black box.
The crash killed CDS Gen Rawat, his wife and 11 others. Group Captain Varun Singh, a passenger on the chopper, miraculously survived the crash only to die of severe burn injuries a few days later.The investigation team has completed its probe into the crash of the Russian-origin Mi-17V5 helicopter near Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, the people said on condition of anonymity. The investigation team reportedly examined all likely scenarios for the crash, including possible human error or the crew being disoriented. Gen Rawat was on his way to deliver a speech to students and staff at the DSSC when the chopper crashed, just seven minutes before it was due to land.
