In Telangana, at least 11 workers died when a fire engulfed a scrap godown at Bhoiguda area in Hyderabad during wee hours on Wednesday. According to police, the fire broke out at around 4 AM and all the victims are daily wagers hailed from Bihar. Nine fire extinguishers were deployed to bring the fire under control. Officials suspect short-circuit could be the reason for the fire accident. However, the exact reason is yet to be ascertained. They informed that about 15 workers had been sleeping at the site at the time of the incident. Two persons escaped to safety while 13 have stuck inside. Rescue officials have retrieved 11bodies and shifted them to Gandhi Hospital.
President Ram Nath Kovind has said the death of workers in a fire accident at a godown in Hyderabad, Telangana is a tragedy beyond words. In a tweet, Kovind said, his thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. He wished speedy recovery for the injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives due to a tragic fire in Bhoiguda, Hyderabad. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, his thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. An ex-gratia of two lakh rupees each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund will be given to the next of kin of the deceased. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao also expressed shock over the incident and announced an ex-gratia of 5 lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased workers.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin of those deceased who lost their lives due to a tragic fire in Hyderabad. Expressing grief over the accident Kumar said steps are being taken to bring back the mortal remains. Nitish Kumar said Resident Commissioner in New Delhi has been instructed to get in touch with the Telangana government for bringing back the mortal remains.
