A wave of faith and devotion swept through Haridwar on Monday as thousands of devotees thronged the holy city to take part in the sacred ‘Baisakhi Snan’ along the banks of the Ganga.From the early hours of the morning, pilgrims from across the country streamed into the city, taking a holy dip in the Ganga to seek spiritual merit. Major ghats, especially Har Ki Pauri, witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with chants, prayers, and rituals filling the air with a sense of deep reverence and collective harmony.

Devotees performed traditional ceremonies and offered prayers, seeking peace, prosperity, and well-being for their families. The atmosphere reflected a unique blend of spiritual intensity and serene devotion, as people gathered in large numbers while maintaining discipline.With the surge in footfall, the local administration remained on high alert, deploying a strong police presence across key locations. Surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, were actively used to monitor crowd movement and ensure safety. Officials said the arrangements have helped the event proceed smoothly, with devotees cooperating with authorities.
The Baisakhi festival, set to be celebrated on April 14, holds immense cultural and religious significance, particularly for the Sikh community, symbolising prosperity and new beginnings. It is also observed as the Solar New Year in several parts of India.The occasion also carries historical importance as it marks the anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, making it a day of both celebration and remembrance. Over the years, Baisakhi has come to embody unity, gratitude, and resilience, bringing people together in shared faith and reflection.
