The Confederation of Indian Industry – CII has lauded the launch of Gati Shakti Master Plan saying that the proposed geo-spatial digital platform is a well-timed and revolutionary initiative. In a statement, Director General of CII Chandrajit Banerjee said that the initiative would spur manufacturing competitiveness by facilitating ease of doing business through improved connectivity.He said, it is a giant step towards unlocking India’s growth potential and creating jobs. CII President T.V. Narendran said, the platform will be a gamechanger and harness the potential of Indian industry in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of scale and speed. Commenting on the progressive and visionary logistics plan unveiled by the Prime Minister, Narendran said, coming close on the heels of the National Infrastructure Pipeline and the National Monetisation Plan, the Gati Shakti vision would underscore the primacy of place to develop world class infrastructure facilities which is crucial to improve business sentiment and speed up the country’s vision to emerge as a five trillion dollar economy in near future. Narendran said that CII would like to partner with the government on this stellar initiative to build a new and modern India.
-Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday launched Climate Resilience Information System and Planning CRISP-M tool for integration of climate information in Geographic Information System, GIS-based watershed planning under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA along with Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth in the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Lord Tariq Ahmad through a virtual event. Addressing the event, Singh said, the CRISP-M tool will help embed climate information in the GIS-based planning and implementation of Mahatma Gandhi NREGA. He further appreciated efforts of British Government and all the stakeholders who supported Rural Development Ministry in developing the tool and hoped that the implementation of CRISP-M will open up new possibilities for the rural communities to deal with the issues of climate change. This tool will be used in seven states where in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Government of UK and Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India are jointly working towards climate resilience. The states are Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Rajasthan.
-Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday launched the Special Postal Covers of Pa Togan N. Sangma and Citrus Indica (Memang Narang) at Williamnagar in presence of the Government Chief Whip Marcuise Marak and MLA Saleng A. Sangma. The postal cover was launched to mark the 75th Year of Independence which is being observed as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Releasing the postal cover of the unsung freedom fighter of the state, Chief Minister Sangma said that the special cover is a befitting tribute of the heroic legendary freedom fighter from the Garo Hills. He also announced that the State Government will come up with a special financial support to create infrastructure to be dedicated in memory of Pa Togan Sangma at Chisolbibra, near Williamnagar in East Garo Hills.
-As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Department of Posts, J&K Postal Circle on Wednesday released two special covers on the unsung heroes of Jammu and Kashmir namely Sarvanand Koul Premi and Mohd. Maqbool Sherwani. Our correspondent reports that these special covers were released by Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle Shailendra Dashora at an impressive function at Jammu. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Postmaster General said that it is an endeavor of Govt. of India to recognise the role played by the unsung heroes for the betterment of the nation and society. He further said that J&K Postal Circle feels privileged in bringing out two special covers on two such unsung heroes from J&K whose contribution can never be underestimated. Worth mentioning, Sarvanand Koul Premi was a famous Kashmiri litterateur, social reformer and Gandhian whereas Mohd. Maqbool Sherwani was the person who saved Srinagar from the raiders (Kabilies) attackers in 1947 merely at the age of 19 years.
-INS Ranvijay (D55) and INS Satpura (F48) are participating in Multilateral Maritime Ex Malabar Phase II in Bay of Bengal. The Exercise has the participation of nine ships including US Aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70), Japanese Helicopter Carrier JS Kaga (DDH 184), USS Lake Champlain (CG 57), USS Stockdale (DDG 106), HMAS Sirius (O266), HMAS Ballarat FFH 155) and JS Marasame (DD 101).The Second Phase of the exercise is focusing on advanced surface and anti-submarine warfare exercises, seamanship evolution and weapon firings.
