FASTag crosses historical 2 crore users landmark

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for WHO's important role in facilitating a coordinated global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  He also noted the need to not lose sight of the battle against other diseases, and appreciated the importance of WHO's support to the health systems of developing countries.The Director General stressed the close and regular collaboration between the WHO and the Indian health authorities. He specially appreciated India's domestic initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat scheme and India's campaign against Tuberculosis. He said that India had an important role to play in global health issues. Prime Minister Modi and the WHO Director General had a productive discussion on the value of Traditional Medicinal Systems, especially for enhancing wellness and immunity of the global population.  They agreed on the need for integrating traditional medicine solutions into modern medical practice through holistic protocols, and for careful scientific validation of time-tested traditional medicine products and practices.

-The number of FASTag users in the country has reached two crore historical landmarks, registering growth of 400 percent in a year. This has increased the total toll collection to 92 crore rupees per day which is a substantial increase in the daily toll collection from 70 crore rupees per day, a year back.National Highway Authority of India, NHAI said, as of now FASTag is contributing to nearly 75 percent of the total toll collection. It said, digital payment through FASTag is being actively promoted by NHAI to enhance the user experience on National Highways and reduce pollution on account of queuing of vehicles at the Toll Plazas. The Government’s direction to move towards 100 per cent digital transaction for payments at the Toll Plazas on National Highways provided the required impetus for the FASTag adoption.

-Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited, IFFCO has slashed the price of Ammonium Phosphate Sulphate Fertilisers by 50 rupees per bag across the country with immediate effect.According to IFFCO the cost is reduced by one thousand rupees per tonne as support to farmers on Sulphur, a key input nutrient for the soil.This nutrient is very important for all types of oilseed crops. It also improves the quality of the crops and also helps in the good growth of the plants.According to the Chemicals and Fertilizers Ministry, reduction in agriculture input cost is in line with the Prime Minister's vision of doubling farmers' income by 2022.

-The Ministry of Textiles has launched a campaign Local for Diwali. Textile Minister Smriti Irani has appealed to the people to celebrate Diwali by buying and gifting local textiles and handicraft items to support local weavers and artisans.She appealed to people to take a picture of their favourite article like clothing or a handicraft product and tag the person you purchase it from and go #Local4Diwali. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged the citizens to use Indian handicrafts and also communicate to more and more people about them.
-The Food Processing Industries Ministry has provided 50 per cent subsidy on air transportation from North-Eastern and Himalayan States. The Ministry said, under Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, Operation Greens Scheme TOP to TOTAL, 50 per cent transportation subsidy is now made available for air transportation for 41 notified fruits and vegetables from North-Eastern and Himalayan States to any place in India.It said, Airlines will provide the transport subsidy directly to the supplier, consignee or agent by way of charging only 50 per cent of the actual contracted freight charges and will claim the balance 50 per cent from the Ministry as subsidy.All the airports in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura from North-East, and Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh among the Hilly States are eligible under the scheme.The transportation subsidy was earlier extended under Operation Greens Scheme for Kisan Rail Scheme with effect from 12th October this year. Railways charge only 50 per cent of freight charges on the nitified fruits and vegitables.
