The Union Cabinet has today approved Nutrient-Based Subsidy rates for the Kharif Season 2026 on Phosphatic and Potassic fertilisers. Briefing the media in New Delhi on Wednesday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the tentative budgetary requirement for the Kharif season 2026 would be approximately Rs41,533 crore. He said the decision will ensure the availability of fertilisers to farmers at subsidised, affordable and reasonable prices.

The government has also given its nod to the 41-kilometre-long Jaipur Metro Phase 2 from Prahladpura to Todi Mod. Vaishnaw said this will comprise 36 stations and over 13,000 crore rupees will be spent on this project. The project will be implemented by Rajasthan Metro Rail Corporation Limited, a 50:50 joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Rajasthan. The Phase-2 corridor will provide seamless connectivity to major activity nodes such as Sitapura Industrial Area, VKIA, Jaipur Airport, Tonk Road, SMS Hospital and Stadium, Ambabari and Vidhyadhar Nagar. It includes underground stations at the airport area. It will integrate with the operational Phase-1 through planned interchanges and feeder systems, ensuring a unified and continuous metro network across the city.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved a substantial revision in the cost of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery project, raising it to Rs 79,459 crore from Rs 43,129 crore. The Cabinet also cleared an additional equity infusion of Rs 8,962 crore by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), taking the company’s total equity investment in the project to Rs 19,600 crore, the government said on Wednesday.

Located at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district, the 9 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex is scheduled to commence commercial operations on July 1, 2026. The refinery is designed to produce 1 MMTPA of petrol, 4 MMTPA of diesel, and a substantial volume of petrochemicals, including 1 MMTPA of polypropylene, 0.5 MMTPA each of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE), along with around 0.4 MMTPA of benzene, toluene and butadiene.
