Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said, it's time to embark on a "One Nation One Standard" mission and make India the leader in setting global benchmarks in fixing standards. Reviewing the work of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in New Delhi, Goyal who is also Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister said, no one should feel the need to go abroad to get quality certification.Saying lab testing in India should be of world standards, Goyal said, modern equipments and the latest technologies should be used. Goyal said, while all areas of production and services be included in this national mission, bringing a national uniformity and standardization in all kinds of public procurement and tendering can be an immediate deliverable.The minister stressed that the strength and character of nation is often exemplified by the standards it sets for the quality of its products and services.
-Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar has informed that a meeting will be held with State Revenue and Home Ministers to ensure that there is high vigil in districts bordering Maharashtra and Kerala where the COVID cases are on the rise.The District Deputy Commissioners with Police and Health Departments will make a concerted effort to ensure that only those with RT-PCR negative reports are allowed to enter the state. Saying that only 51 per cent of health care workers and 31 per cent of frontline warriors are inoculated against COVID virus, he called upon them to come forward and get inoculated against the Corona virus.
=Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of other states in the sixth virtual meeting of the NITI Aayog Governing Council. During the meeting, Soren proposed giving a separate column for tribal population in the census data. Soren further emphasised to increase the minimum labour wages under MGNREGA and requested the Central Government to ease the forest clearance guidelines for setting up of more industries in a mineral rich state like Jharkhand. He also stressed upon partnership model of Mining operations in the state and suggested to regulate uniform old age pension.
-The week-long 47th Khajuraho Dance Festival began on Saturday evening in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh, which is based on the Indian classical dance tradition.On the first day, along with dance performances tourists also took part in e-bike tour from west group of temples to eastern group temples, village tour of Old Khajuraho and many more. The first day event is dedicated to Bharatanatyam performance by Geeta Chandran and her troupe and Kathak performance by Deepak Maharaj. The festival is being organized by the Culture Department through Ustad Alauddin Khan Music and Arts Academy Bhopal. Director of the Academy, Rahul Rastogi has said that this year festival will give the audience a chance to watch the performance of the dancers amid the aura of the temple as event is being held once again in the temple complex of the Western Temple Group of Khajuraho after a gap of 44 years.
-India and Maldives on Saturday signed agreements on wide range of domains including fish processing, public broadcasting, sustainable urban development, road infrastructure and housing. The agreements were exchanged after the talks between External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and his Maldivian counterpart Abdulla Shahid in Male.The agreement in the field of broadcasting is for cooperation between Prasar Bharati and PSM, the official State Media of Maldives. The MoU intends to facilitate collaboration and capacity building in the field of public broadcasting.
