Government on Thursday said that 100 per cent Frontline workers and 99 per cent Healthcare workers have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine. Briefing media in New Delhi, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, 83 per cent Healthcare workers and 79 per cent Frontline workers have received the second dose. He said, 50 per cent of Population aged 45 plus have received the 1st dose and 15 per cent have been administered the 2nd dose. The Secretary said, there is a progressive decrease in districts reporting high cases. He said, districts with greater than 100 cases declined from 279 in the week ending 1st June 2021 to 41. Bhushan said, the Cumulative Recovery Rate increasing and it is more than 97 per cent currently. He said, it is important to note that 80 lakh doses of vaccine were administered in the country in the last 24 hours. The Secretary said, more than 47 lakh doses have been administered so far on Thursday.
-Labour and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav on Thursday launched e-Shram portal – National Database on Unorganized Workers in New Delhi. The portal will maintain a database of workers in the country’s unorganised sector and facilitate better implementation of various Social Security Schemes for their welfare.Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameshwar Teli and Labour and Employment Secretary Apurva Chandra were present on the occasion. All trade union leaders have welcomed the move and extended their full support for the successful launch and implementation of the e-shram portal. The Union Minister thanked the union leaders for their valuable and constructive suggestions and emphasised that they have a key role towards speedier registration, implementation at field level and taking the portal to the unorganized workers.
-In a major decision, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has announced that the next of kins of deceased state government Group A and Group B officers will be given job. Currently, in the similar cases of Group C and Group D employees in the government service, eligible members of the family are appointed in the government service on compassionate grounds.The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister. Various unions have been demanding the same in the wake of the death of officers during COVID-19.
-Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy inaugurated a mega-tourism event “Ladakh: New Start, New Goals” in Leh virtually from Delhi on Thursday. Centre and Union Territory Ladakh are organizing a 3-Day mega-event from 26th to 28th of this month. Our correspondent reported that the Minister appealed to all the pilots of the tourism industry to promote Ladakh as a domestic and international tourist destination. Three-day event is organized to promote Ladakh as a tourist destination with focus on aspects of adventure, culture and responsible tourism. While inaugurating the Ladakh New Start, New Goals, Kishan Reddy listed various government initiatives like Dekho Apna Desh, to promote tourism in Ladakh and boost local economy with sustainability.Speaking on the occasion, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor R.K Mathur stressed on focusing on the shape and size of tourism.
-Meghalaya Government has decided to open colleges, educational institutes and tourist destinations from September 1. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting held at Shillong. After the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma informed media that the decision was taken after recommendations were given by the State Education Department and the Tourism Department.He stated that in urban areas, for class 1 to 5 online classes will continue and for class 6 to 8 school visits will be allowed and for class 9 to 12 regular classes will commence. However, in rural areas classes starting from 6 to 12 regular class will resume but for class 1 to 5 only school visits will be allowed.The Chief Minister further informed that all tourist destinations in the State will be opened up for tourists from other States. Only those who are vaccinated with double dose and others with a negative RTPCR report taken 72 hours prior to the visit will be allowed, he added.He further said that all details of the stay and other itineraries of the visit should be disclosed to the authorities.
-In Tamil Nadu, the Air Cushion Vehicle Hangar of the Indian Coast Guard situated at Mandapam, near Rameswaram was inaugurated by the state Director General of Police Dr. C.Sylendra Babu in the presence of the Director-General of Indian Coast Guard Krishnasamy Natarajan. ACV Hangar has a ramp which is constructed 15 meters on land and 7.5 metres inside sea for safe launching recovery of ACVs. The Hangar can accommodate ACVs for safe berthing and maintenance which will enhance life of ACVs and will also enable in house repairs in order to save the Government exchequer
