Delhi government has decided to impose night curfew from Monday.The decision has been taken in view of increasing cases of COVID19 in the city. The night curfew will be effective from 11.00 PM to 5 AM. A total of 290 new confirmed cases of Corona virus infection were reported in the national capital today. During the last 24 hours, one hundred twenty people have recovered and one death was reported in the city. Presently, the total number of active cases of COVID-19 in the national capital is one thousand 103.
-Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari felicitated 44 eminent personalities from various walks of life with ‘Maharashtrachi Girishikhare’ awards at a function held at Rangsharada Auditorium in Mumbai on Sunday.The programme was organized by People’s Art Centre on the occasion of the concluding function of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Maharashtra. Playback singer Usha Mangeshkar, actor Rohini Hattangadi, vocalist Asha Khadilkar, Gazal singer Bhimrao Panchale, playback singer Suresh Wadkar, musician Ashok Patki were among those felicitated on the occasion.
-A Cultural Confluence of Tamil and Manipur was organised in Imphal on Sunday evening in coincide with the death centenary of Tamil poet Mahakavi Subramania Bharati. The function was organised by the Art and Culture Department of Manipur eminent speakers from Tamil Nadu as well as from Manipur spoke on the life and works of Mahakavi Subramania Bharati. A prayer song written by Bharati and translated into Manipuri was also presented by Manipuri singers in the function. Manipur Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh graced the function which was a part of cultural exchange between Manipur and Tamil Nadu States. Governor Ganesan announced the birth centenary celebration of late Smt. M.K. Binodini, Indian novelist, short story writer, playwright and lyricist from Manipur, would be held at Chennai in February next year as a cultural exchange programme and to introduce her to Tamil people. Addressing the function, CM Biren Singh said that as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav, various programmes are being observed across the country.
-Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to strengthen grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, it can be judged from the fact that conduct of DDC elections were given a top priority which were overdue from many decades in J&K. Dr Jitendra Singh was addressing a convention as Chief Guest on ‘Good Governance Week’ organized by District Administration, Kathua on Sunday. During the convention, he said that a big change is now evident under the present government which believes in the mantra ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ & in the principle of ‘Justice for All, Appeasement to None’. Dr. Singh also e-inaugurated 100 bedded Girls Hostel under RMSA to be built at Government High School, Basoli, many development projects under PMGSY at Mashka, Mandli & Kehanta, long vented causeways at Stoora and Badala and span type steel bridges at Mashka and Ghatti. He also distributed cheques to the beneficiaries under Ladli Beti Scheme and State Marriage Assistance Scheme, provided keys of tractors to beneficiaries of Horticulture Department & felicitated many students of the district for their outstanding performance and provided them with the sports kits. Dr. Jitendra Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi took personal interest in Shahpur Kandi Dam Project and it is only by his personal intervention that the work on this project has been resumed after 45 years which was earlier stalled due to one or the other reasons.
-In Bihar, death toll has risen to seven in boiler explosion at the noodle-making factory in Muzaffarpur district. Seven others are undergoing treatment at SKMCH hospital of the district. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced an ex gratia of four lakh rupees each to the next of the kin of deceased. Mr.Kumar has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The factory is located in Bela Industrial area of Muzaffarpur. The explosion was so severe that the terraces of the adjoining factories in the area were also damaged.
